英語教員のためのセミナーはとても充実して、特に通訳メソッド法は充実した１日になりました。

担当の講師はCaroline KennedyとAngelina Jolieの演説が割と聞きやすいとおっしゃってたので、トライしてみました。確かに割と聞きやすく、砕けてないので理解もしやすいです。

でも、Caroline Kennedyの約6分間の演説はなかなかの手応えなので…途中まで英語訳のサンプルを載せます。

この演説は2012年の民主党全国大会で演説されたものです。

It's an honor to join you tonight for the most important reason I can imagine to make sure that Barack Obama is reelected president of the United States.

 

Four years ago, I was inspired by the way Senator Obama had lived his life, fighting for jobs, giving hope to the hopeless, and working day in and day out for the America he believes in. I was inspired by Barack Obama's vision for America, an America where we look out for one another, where we take responsibility for our sisters and brothers, and most of all our children.

 

Back then, Iwas inspired by the promise of Barack Obama's presidency. Today, I'm inspired by his record. Over the past four years, we have had a president who has committed himself and his administration to the value that made America great economic fairness, equal opportunity, and the belief that if each of us gives back to this country we love, and all of us work together, there is no challenge we cannnot overcome.

キャロライン・ケネディーは2008年、12年の大統領選挙でオバマ大統領を支持して、2008年には副大統領候補選考委員会で勤めていましたね。先月、オバマ大統領はジョン・ルースの後任にキャロライン・ケネディーを駐日大使に起用することを発表しましたね。もし、実現すれば、女性の駐日大使としては初です！9月の上院聴聞会で決まるので気になるところあともうすぐ。
